Part II: Pilates Reformer for Dancers


May 28th - June 12th, 2019

Course participants can expect to learn the Pilates Reformer repertory from Beginner to Advanced levels with a focus on dance conditioning. Upon the completion of the course, participants will be qualified to:

● Work according to the principles of Pilates and teach these principles to others

● Assess posture and postural deviations

● Create comprehensive and safe Pilates programs, tailored to a dancers’ needs

● Modify exercises, according to the needs and goals of dancers

● Demonstrate Pilates exercises at a high level

● Teach well organized group classes that provide a comprehensive Pilates experience with a focus on dance conditioning

Independent Study Requirements

Observation Hours - 30 hours

Personal Practice Hours - 50 hours

Mentoring /Apprentice Teaching Hours - 35 hours total

  • 2-4 hours Mentored private sessions

  • 2-4 hours Mentored group classes

  • 15 hours Apprentice teaching private sessions

  • 15 hours Apprentice teaching group classes

Deposits & Fees

$50 non-refundable course reservation fee due 4/30/19 (to be applied toward total fees)

$1300 Total course fee (includes reservation fee) due upon start of course work


  • Course training manual and supplemental materials

  • Complimentary reformer classes at Evolution Pilates while completing personal practice hours

  • Studio use for personal practice, observation, and practice teaching hours (see more on practice teaching below)

  • Mentored teaching hours, testing hours, and so much love and support!


  • Observation hours may include up to 10 hours online. In-studio observation can consist of group reformer classes at any time, or private sessions with the teachers’ permission.

  • Personal practice hours will help you practice the exercises learned in the course. Personal practice hours at the studio are free to course participants practicing alone. Please schedule these with us so we can be sure a machine is available for you.

  • Free practice hours at the studio on other course participants, family members, or friends during the duration of the course up to 3 hours per week as space permits. Only 5 hours total with friends and family may be counted towards your Apprentice Hours or your Mentored hours. Please schedule all hours with the studio.

  • All other practice “students” will pay a discounted rate of $25 for private sessions with or without a Mentor or $15 for group sessions with or without a Mentor. (Apprentice hours will be taught alone and Mentored hours will be taught with Michelle.) Evolution Pilates will advertise discounted private sessions and group sessions to our clientele to help you complete these practice hours if you are unable to gather a group to teach.

  • Course participants will not be paid for Apprentice teaching hours or Mentored hours.

  • All visitors to the studio must sign liability waivers.

  • Remember to have us sign off on all practice hours as you complete them.

Anatomy Requirement

A course in Anatomy for Pilates, or its equivalent, is also required for completion of the Instructor Training. We can discuss options for this requirement at our first meeting.
